This past week, nine credit unions across the nation helped a number of professionals take the next step in their career with new hires and promotions. Numerica Credit Union led the pack with four new hires and one promotion.
WEST
The $4.7 billion Ent Credit Union in Colorado Springs, Colo., promoted Lisa Hand (pictured) to director of cash delivery systems. In this new role, Hand will be responsible for Ent’s instant issue debit card equipment, teller cash recyclers and coin machines, as well as Ent’s fleet of more than 50 local ATMs and ITMs.
The $1.6 billion Vantage West Credit Union in Tucson, Ariz., appointed Augustine Gomez as the new associate director to the board of directors. Gomez is currently an executive at a large real estate investment firm with more than 130 properties in the southwestern United States. He will provide valuable insight to the Vantage West board of directors.
The $2.9 billion Spokane Teachers Credit Union in Liberty Lake, Wash., promoted two employees. Lindsey Myhre (pictured) was promoted to CFO. She previously was vice president of finance. David Flood was promoted to chief lending officer. Flood previously was vice president of lending. The two Inland Northwest natives have had similar career paths. Both started at the credit union in 2000 when STCU was half its current size. Both benefited from STCU’s many programs for developing leaders, working up through the ranks before being promoted to the senior management team in 2015.
The $3.9 billion Kinecta Federal Credit Union in Manhattan Beach, Calif., promoted Brett Stubbs to first vice president, CFO. Stubbs will oversee the credit union’s overall financial management and internal controls including accounting, financial and management reporting, treasury, budgeting/forecasting and asset liability management. He will also direct the secondary marketing activities of mortgage products as well as provide material support to the strategic planning process. Stubbs joined Kinecta in 2012 and brings 18 years of experience to the position.
The $1.7 billion Numerica Credit Union in Spokane Valley, Wash., hired four new staff members and promoted another.
Kendra Edlin (pictured) was hired as assistant vice president for retail experience. She brings more than 10 years of experience in financial institutions to the position and will oversee seven Numerica branches in Spokane and Airway Heights.
Chris Simchuk was hired as assistant vice president for retail lending. Simchuk will oversee underwriters at Numerica’s 18 branches and two member service centers in order to ensure loan quality, timely turnaround and team development. He has more than 13 years of experience in the financial industry.
Deanna Ervin (pictured) was hired as the new manager for the Coeur d’Alene branch. For more than 18 years, Deanna has helped people with their financial well-being. Previously, she was the manager at the Sullivan Branch in Spokane. Ervin graduated from Western CUNA Management School and is nearly completed with her bachelor’s degree from Washington State University.
Laina Walkington assumes a new position within Numerica as a business development officer. Walkington has been with the credit union for more than nine years and previously held positions at the headquarters in Spokane Valley and the Hayden and Coeur d’Alene branches.
Katie Hunt (pictured) was hired as a business development manager. Hunt brings more than three years of development experience, most recently as business development director for Advanced Benefits.
MIDWEST
The $1.1 billion Firefly Credit Union in Burnsville, Minn., hired Annette Stephens as chief information officer. Stephens has more than 30 years of experience in financial services, 20 of those years dedicated to IT strategy. Before coming to Firefly, she was a vice president executive responsible for national data center operations to financial industry clients. She also served as an assistant vice president division leader and bank officer of IT application development at an $18 billion bank.
The $2.9 billion Teachers Credit Union in South Bend, Ind., hired Jon Glesing as director of public relations. As a member of TCU’s communications team, Glesing will be primarily responsible for the strategy, development and execution of the organization’s public relations efforts across all external channels, including social media. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the public and media relations industry to the position.
The $2.2 billion United Federal Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich., appointed Coli Smith (pictured) to director of regional marketing. In this new role, Smith will lead all marketing, advertising, sponsorships, events and branding campaigns that directly support UFCU’s markets in exceeding their targets and growth goals. She will create regional marketing plans that reflect the individual market, yet that are in support of overall organizational goals and mission.
The $1.9 billion Royal Credit Union in Eau Claire, Wis., named Jean Zimmer mortgage operations manager. In this role, she will be responsible for planning, organizing and overseeing all activities of the home loan processing and closing department. She will also ensure that all real estate processing and closing operations are in accordance with established policies and legal requirements. Zimmer brings roughly 30 years of experience in mortgage lending to the position.
