From coast to coast this past week, credit unions revealed new hires and promotions, including Space Coast Credit Union, which promoted seven employees. Plus, one credit union executive retires after 37 years of service.

WEST

The $6.4 billion Alaska USA Federal Credit Union in Anchorage, Alaska selected Rochelle Marshall (pictured) as SVP, marketing. Marshall has more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience, with the last 11 years leading the business marketing department at General Communication, Inc. 

SOUTH

The $2 million Truliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., named Sandeep Uthra as chief technology officer. Uthra will be responsible for developing strategic direction for Truliant’s overall technology landscape. He will oversee the enterprise solutions, application development, systems operations, technology support, information security, network services, database engineering/administration, data centers and telecommunications, among other duties. Uthra has more than 17 years of experience developing and executing IT strategies.

The $2 billion Atlanta Postal Credit Union appointed Charles M. Head as president and COO. Head will work very closely with CEO, Donald A. DeCinque in managing the credit union’s business and leading and preserving the member-focused philosophy that is the trademark of APCU. Head began his APCU career as a loan officer in 1989 and moved up through the ranks of the credit union.  

The $3.7 billion Space Coast Credit Union in Melbourne, Fla., promoted seven employees. Laura Richard was promoted to SVP, marketing. Richard joined SCCU as vice president of marketing in November 2012, bringing more than 20 years of marketing experience to the credit union where she has been responsible for overseeing the credit union’s marketing and public relations efforts.

Hilary Eisbrenner was promoted to vice president, finance and accounting. Eisbrenner is a 25-year veteran of the credit union industry and brings invaluable experience to SCCU across multiple fields of finance. In addition to overseeing and directing financial operations, Eisbrenner will also work closely with the credit union’s leadership on an executive management team to advance the credit union’s mission.

Greg DeRoy was promoted to vice president, member service centers/e-banking. DeRoy started his SCCU career in July 2004 as supervisor of the Wal-Mart in-store branch. He most recently served as director of member services and e-banking. In addition to driving the implementation of SCCU’s first mobile platform, DeRoy led the successful conversion of the credit union’s online banking systems in 2015.

Thomas Domingue (pictured) was promoted to vice president, loan services. Domingue began his career at SCCU in November of 2007 as branch supervisor and has served in several roles over the years, most recently as the director of loan servicing and processing. Domingue will continue to oversee the loan processing and servicing departments, and has added the collections area in his new role. 

Gary Prager was promoted to vice president, consumer sales. He joined SCCU, with six years of credit union experience, in 2007 as an express sales associate. Prager quickly became a top producer and was promoted to express sales manager before being promoted again to director of consumer sales in June 2013. In his new role, Prager will continue to be responsible for all of express sales and indirect sales.

Chris Matthews was promoted to vice president, card services/business intelligence. Originally hired as manager of the Pembroke Pines branch in 1998, Matthews was promoted to regional sales manager in 2000 and grew the branch network in Broward County from four initial locations to the 12 branches present today. In addition to overseeing card services in his new position, Matthews will also assume responsibility of SCCU’s new business intelligence department.

Nicole Williams was promoted to director, information technology. Williams began her career with the SCCU in June 2013 as manager of systems operation and development and has provided systems development and technical support for many major projects. In her new role, Williams will assume leadership responsibility for all three information technology areas, including data centers and networks, systems development and operations, and the help desk and technical support groups.

MIDWEST

The $3 billion Veridian Credit Union in Waterloo, Iowa promoted one employee and hired another. Ty Vandehaar (pictured) was promoted to mortgage loan originator. Vandehaar, a native of Dike, Iowa, has been employed at Veridian for nearly eight years, most recently as a member relations officer. Vandehaar has a degree in business administration from Kaplan University.

Jeff Hamilton was hired to the position of senior commercial loan officer. Hamilton, an Omaha Neb., resident, was previously employed as a branch manager for Bank of the West. He has a business management/business administration degree from Midland University.

After more than 37 years of outstanding service, Zoe Gustafson, SVP of operations at the $1.3 billion Whitefish Credit Union in Whitefish, Mont., will retire at the end of this year. Gustafson began her credit union career in March 1980 as a teller in Whitefish, the credit union’s only branch at that time. Gustafson has since worked her way through nearly every position there. As the SVP of operations, Gustafson was responsible for the implementation of all facets of member service across Whitefish’s seven branches, including its operations center.
