As summer temperatures crept to almost 90 degrees, employees from Great Lakes Credit Union’s Gurnee branch stopped by the Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center to surprise kids and parents alike with a cool treat.

The branch’s Random Acts of Kindness team served ice cream sandwiches to some 80 children.

The adults thought it was fabulous that we were coming out to the community and doing these acts of kindness,” Erica Carrillo, GLCU Gurnee branch manager said. “It’s pretty neat how something so simple can make people so happy!”

According to Gurnee Park District’s Marketing Specialist Liz Gnippe, the refreshing treats were a welcome surprise.

“It was great seeing all of our swimmers’ smiling faces. Thank you for your continued support of our community and Gurnee Park District” Gnippe said.

The $735 million credit union’s Random Acts of Kindness campaign will continue throughout the year.
