NAFCU will have a new name on Jan. 1—the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions.

The change will reflect the change giving all of the association’s federally-insured members full voting rights and eligibility to serve on the association’s board of directors.

“While our name change reflects our mission to serve all federally-insured credit unions, our focus remains the same,” said NAFCU Chair Richard L. Harris, president/CEO of Caltech Employees Federal Credit Union. “We remain committed to providing the best in advocacy, education and compliance assistance at the federal level.”

In September, the NAFCU’s membership approved the board’s recommendation to amend the association’s articles of incorporation to give federally-insured, state-chartered members full membership.

NAFCU’s logo and acronym will remain the same in an effort to preserve the association’s brand recognition.
