B. Dan Berger opens the NAFCU Annual Conference & Solutions Expo in Honolulu

NAFCU president/CEO B. Dan Berger opened the organization’s 50th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo on Wednesday in Honolulu.

Berger expressed his excitement to the crowd about the 50 years of service NAFCU has provided credit unions. “It’s an incredible achievement,” he said. Founded in 1967, NAFCU, said Berger, wanted to make sure that credit unions were protected and wanted to open the doors to all Americans to be able to join a credit union.

“The men and women who started NAFCU decided to do extraordinary things,” said Berger. He pointed out the upward trend in credit union membership growth and auto lending, especially since Bank Transfer Day in 2011.

He credits all of the success of the industry to the “dedicated employees and credit union leaders.”

“The engine of our growth comes down to something very simple: people,” said Berger.

The conference goes through Friday and CU Times will provide updates throughout the event.
