Credit Unions, Leagues, CUSOs Reveal Staff Changes

This past week, professionals from credit unions, leagues, vendors and CUSOs – including CU Direct, CUNA Mutual Group and PSCU – made big moves in their careers. Check out the latest People news here.

WEST

Janelle Hockenbrocht and Chelsey Johnson of the $649 million AltaOne Federal Credit Union in Ridgecrest, Calif., accepted a community service award from Sierra Sands Unified School District recognizing the credit union’s outstanding support of the youth in the Indian Wells Valley. During the past few years, Hockenbrocht and her team from AltaOne’s Corporate Member Service Center have contributed many gifts to the Angel Tree program during the holidays. Angel Tree collects and distributes holiday gifts and food baskets to children in the community.

EAST

The members of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association in Harrisburg, Penn., elected a new chairman of the board and vice chairman of the board.

Jeff DeBree (pictured), CEO of the $170 million Penn East Federal Credit Union in Scranton, Penn., was elected chairman of the board. DeBree has served as the vice chairman of the board since 2015 and represents credit unions with total assets of more than $50 million through $250 million. DeBree has been with Penn East since 2003.

Rick Stipa, CEO of the $1.9 billion TruMark Financial Credit Union in Fort Washington, Penn., was elected as vice chairman. Stipa previously served as a board director representing credit unions with total assets of more than $250 million. As a member of the board, he served on the audit committee and the government relations and Pennsylvania State Advisory Committees. He has been with TruMark Financial since 2001.

Kelly Ehmann, loan servicer at the $975 million Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union in Kingston, N.Y., was awarded the Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union Chairman’s Award for Talent. Ehmann began her career with MHV seven years ago as a teller and has since progressed to loan servicer. As a loan servicer, she is responsible for assisting members with their current loans and mortgages and always goes out of her way to help members and employees.

SOUTH

The $2.8 billion Coastal Credit Union in Raleigh, N.C., announced two new assignments. 

Deron Rossi (pictured) was named vice chair following the retirement of longtime board member Richard Bloom. Rossi is a veteran board member with 21 years of volunteer experience at the credit union. In his 34-year career at IBM, Rossi has experience in management, corporate accounting, project management, systems installations, business controls and internal audit.

Jeff Dooley was elected to fill a three-year term as a director. Dooley most recently served as the chair of Coastal’s supervisory committee and brings six years of volunteer experience to the board. Dooley’s career spans multiple disciplines including engineering, capital planning and supply chain operations. Dooley currently leads Americas Services Compliance for Cisco Systems.

VENDORS

Madison Investments hired Edward Meier to the credit union investment management team. Edward’s addition allowed Madison Investments to begin several new credit union relationships, increasing its assets within the credit union channel to nearly $5 billion. Meier was previously at CUNA Mutual Group’s investment advisory affiliate, MEMBERS Capital Advisors and has 25 years of fixed income portfolio management experience.

CUSOs

CU Direct, producer of the credit union industry’s lending technology platforms, appointed two accomplished veterans to lead efforts in the development and expansion of the company’s lending and automotive technology and solutions.

Phil DuPree (pictured), auto industry leader and e-commerce innovator, was named the company’s new chief strategy officer of automotive solutions. DuPree’s deep industry experience, spanning 20 years, includes delivery of innovative technology, e-commerce, marketing, retail sales and business development solutions to the auto industry.

Roger Hull, lending technology pioneer, was named the company’s new chief strategy officer of lending solutions. Hull has more than 30 years of strategic leadership experience in the mortgage and technology industries, developing growth-driven technology, and business and operational strategies. DuPree will oversee strategic planning, direction, development and sales of CU Direct’s automotive solutions encompassing product and market expansion.

CUNA Mutual Group in Madison, Wis., appointed Jacqueline S. Shoback to its board of directors, replacing director Joseph J. Gasper, who is retiring after 12 years of service. Shoback is EVP, chief client development officer for Boston Private Financial Holdings, a publicly traded private banking and investment management firm. A skilled veteran of the financial services sector since 2004, Shoback has held senior leadership roles with Fidelity Investments and TIAA-CREF, focused on building businesses with strategic growth opportunities.

PSCU in St. Petersburg, Fla., added payments and credit union industry veteran Chris Gunnare to its senior leadership team. Gunnare will fill the role of chief member experience officer. A payments and credit union industry veteran with an extensive network, Gunnare joins PSCU with more than 24 years of experience at TMG.
