Coopera, Corporate Central, Clark County CU Welcome New Talent

This past week, credit unions across the country welcomed new staff members and made promotions. In addition, credit union consulting firm Coopera and security solutions company DefenseStorm hired new executives.

WEST

The $650 million Clark County Credit Union in Las Vegas promoted Christina Aguirre to Henderson branch manager. Aguirre started in 2012 as a loan operations specialist and was quickly promoted to financial services representative and later assistant branch manager. Her responsibilities as branch manager include making sure the branch runs smoothly while focusing on growing the membership base in Henderson among healthcare and government employees.

The $493 million Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii announced Michael McCray was hired as counselor/coach at the HomeOwnership Center. The HHOC is a non-profit organization with a mission to help Hawaii families achieve their dreams of homeownership. 

McCray (pictured) has more than 10 years of experience in one-on-one financial counseling/coaching and money management. His office is located inside the Kaloko Branch of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union.

MIDWEST

The $1.8 billion Corporate Central Credit Union in Muskego, Wis., welcomed several new staff members to help support its digital transformation initiative.

Brian Stefanski (below, second from left) was hired as software developer/engineer. He brings 27 years of experience to the position. Stefanski will lead operational efficiency efforts by automating business processes for both staff and members. He will also work to create efficiencies in product and service delivery.

Earlier this year, Kay Schlumpf (right) joined Corporate Central as digital information specialist. Schlumpf’s extensive experience in providing business digital information solutions has helped support transformational objectives focused on increasing productivity, effectiveness and efficiency.

Ramona Verburgt (second from right) was hired as office assistant. Verburgt’s focus is on operations and accounting.

Mark Carew (left) was hired as marketing assistant intern. Carew’s responsibilities include website and social media presence development.

The $3.2 billion Veridian Credit Union in Waterloo, Iowa hired two employees.

Angeline Kelly was hired as project manager. Kelly, of Cedar Falls, was a 1st vice president and project manager at Lincoln Savings Bank. She has a degree in marketing from Upper Iowa University and remains a member and volunteer with PMI Eastern Iowa Chapter, a professional network for project managers.

Teaya Hayes (pictured) was hired as compliance officer. Hayes, a Waterloo resident, was previously a home retention supervisor for Ocwen Loan Servicing. She has a master’s degree in business administration from Upper Iowa University.

SOUTH

The $1.3 billion Allegacy Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., announced three new financial advisors have joined Allegacy Investment Group. Terri Lynn Brown was hired as financial advisor. She has a combined 30 years of financial, business and consulting experience. She most recently operated an independent financial advising business in Advance, N.C.

Carla Hooker (pictured) was hired as financial advisor. She is a certified financial planner professional with more than 20 years of experience in the financial service industry. She earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Gardner Webb University and is professionally licensed in North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia.

Brett Sneed was hired as financial advisor. He is a CFS certified financial advisor based in the Winston-Salem, Peacehaven and Stafford Village locations. He earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Appalachian State University and recently worked with a local investment firm creating investment strategies for clients in order to reach their long-term goals.

The $1.3 billion Barksdale Federal Credit Union in Bossier City, La., hired Patrick Gullatt as president/CEO, effective June 7, 2017. Gullatt has been with the credit union since 1999, first serving as the credit union’s CFO. In 2008, he moved into the role of EVP and COO.

VENDORS

DefenseStorm, a solution that fuses together technology and people to provide co-managed cybersecurity operations for financial institutions, hired Steve Soukup as chief revenue officer.Soukup will be responsible for positioning DefenseStorm for continued growth. Soukup will work closely with other members of the executive team to execute on the company’s vision and drive maximum revenue generation. Other responsibilities include developing sales strategies, analyzing market positioning and scaling the company for different stages of growth.

Coopera, is a full­-service Hispanic market solutions company with a specific focus on credit unions nationwide, hired Kenia Calderon as a client relations associate. After serving as an emerging markets intern and project assistant for Hispanic market solutions firm Coopera, she is joining the firm full-time. Calderon will work closely with Coopera’s credit union clients to mobilize staff, evolve cultures and ready products and services for better service to Hispanic members.
