President-elect Donald Trump on Monday appointed Peter Barrett of Barrett Capitol Strategies and Chelsea Pizzola, formerly of the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation, to his NCUA landing team.

They will join former NCUA Chairman Michael Fryzel on the team.

Barrett, who currently serves as president of his own financial services company, served as Chief of Staff at the NCUA in from January 2007 to September 2008. His tenure at NCUA coincided with part of Fryzel’s term on the agency board.

He also served as director of federal affairs with the National Association of State Treasurers, director of outreach at the Department of Treasury and on the staffs of the Senate Banking Committee and the House Financial Services Committee.

Most recently, Pizzola served as a research fellow at the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation, a private research organization that states it is dedicated to developing efficient capital markets and ensuring the stability of the financial system.

She also worked as a law clerk for J. Christopher Giancarlo, a member of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Trump has two personnel decisions to make at the NCUA. He may designate a new chairman. Current Chairman Rick Metsger is a Democrat and presumably Trump would want a Republican in that position.

The other member of the board, J. Mark McWatters, is a Republican and Trump could select him as chair.

The NCUA board also has a vacancy and Trump may nominate a Republican to fill that seat.
