Professionals Make Moves at Credit Unions, CU Direct

This past week, employees at five credit unions began new positions. Plus, auto lending CUSO CU Direct promoted an executive.

WEST

The $1 billion Credit Union 1 in Anchorage, Alaska promoted James Wileman from COO to president/CEO. Wileman joined Credit Union 1 as manager of its Mountain View Branch in 2010. In 2012, he was promoted to oversee all CU1 branches. In 2014, Wileman joined the credit union’s senior management team. In May 2015, his position expanded to vice president of member and administrative services and then to SVP of operations before being promoted to COO of the credit union in 2016.

The $1.9 billion Elevations Credit Union in Boulder, Colo., hired five employees.

Peggy Kramer (pictured) was hired as a mortgage loan officer. Kramer, a Fort Collins native, has been in the banking and mortgage industries since 2005. During that time, customer service has always been her top priority. She is an advocate for her clients and takes great pride in finding mortgage solutions for each of her customers, especially those with complex lending needs.

Kelley Spight was hired as a mortgage loan officer. Spight has been in the financial industry for 38 years, with the last 20 specifically in mortgage lending. Her goal has always been to build lifelong trust and respect with her clients, and she truly enjoys helping families with their home financing needs.

Jill Hartman (pictured) was hired as a mortgage loan officer. She has more than 15 years of experience in the industry, as well as her background in loan processing and closing, thus giving her a unique perspective on all aspects of the loan transaction. She particularly appreciates solving problems and provides individualized service to help every client find the right program for them.

Jason Oleskevich was hired as a mortgage sales partner the credit union’s team in Windsor. Oleskevich is a very active member of the Northern Colorado community and spent 20 years as an educator for the Windsor School District.

Sabrina Nowling was hired as the Northern Colorado vice president of business development. In this role, Nowling manages and supports Elevations’ Northern Colorado market development activities by working closely with retail banking, mortgage, commercial lending and small business banking teams to drive revenue and grow market share. Nowling has an extensive banking and mortgage background spanning 26 years.

EAST

The $148 million Homefield Credit Union in North Grafton, Mass., announced two employee promotions.

Karl J. Moisan was named president/CEO. Moisan previously served as EVP, chief business officer. Moisan replaced Lloyd L. Hamm. Prior to joining Homefield Credit Union, Moisan was SVP, business development and commercial lending at Marlborough Savings Bank. 

Maureen Wojnar was promoted to vice president, operations. Wojnar joined the credit union 30 years ago as a part-time teller. Her current expertise is in the operations of the credit union. Measurable advances and improvements in deposit operations programs and technology have been realized under Wojnar’s leadership. Most recently, she completed a successful core and application conversion project, which had been underway for more than a year. 

MIDWEST

The $1.4 billion Fort Knox Federal Credit Union in Radcliff, Ky.,recently expanded its team with two newly-created regional manager positions.

Katie McDowell was promoted to regional manager. McDowell previously served as branch manager of Fort Knox Federal’s Hodgenville branch. After gaining five years of experience working as a credit manager and branch manager for Wells Fargo, she came home to LaRue County to work for Fort Knox Federal in 2010. Several generations of McDowell’s family have lived in LaRue County. In fact, her grandfather was mayor in the late 1970s and owned a local business.

Lynn Pleasant was promoted to regional manager. Pleasant has been serving Fort Knox Federal members since 1999. She initially joined the credit union as a teller and has worked her way up throughout the organization, serving as a member service specialist before managing several different branches and the call center. Now, as a regional manager, she’ll have the opportunity to help encourage others to do the same.

SOUTH

The $22 billion Pentagon Federal Credit Union in Tysons Corner, Va., hired Matthew S. Collier as the new vice president for business development. In this role, Collier will contribute to the strategic growth of the credit union through the development of new business opportunities and through targeted membership growth within current strategic business relationships, focusing on military, military associations, defense contractors and federal agencies. Collier joined PenFed from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs where he served as senior advisor to the secretary.

CUSOs

CU Direct promoted Neetu Bhagat to CFO. Bhagat has served as corporate controller since joining the company in 2016, and has more than 17 years of experience in both public and private organizations in a variety of finance and accounting positions, with proven expertise in rapid growth environments.
