First Capital, OnPoint, Atlanta Postal Hire New Staff

Seven credit unions from coast to coast made personnel announcements this past week. In addition, two firms that serve the credit union industry, PWCampbell and Clarion Capital Management, hired new executives.

WEST

The $4 billion OnPoint Community Credit Union in Portland, Ore., hired Stephen Owen (pictured) as SVP/COO. He most recently served as chief retail and marketing officer at the $9 billion First Tech Federal Credit Union and previously held senior leadership positions at Travelex Currency Services, Bank of America and Honeywell.

EAST

The $180 million First Capital Federal Credit Union in York, Penn., hired a branch manager and promoted three people. David Brown was hired as branch manager of the East York office located at 2801 Eastern Blvd. In his new position, Brown is responsible for the daily operations of the branch as well as building new relationships with local businesses and members.

Jeremy Ackerley (pictured) was promoted to e-services specialist. In his new position, Ackerley will deliver a superior member experience through technology and personalized attention. He has a specialized associates degree in business management and will be attending the Judge/Bradley Leadership School in August. Lisa Barshinger was promoted to community engagement officer. For the past five years, she has worked as First Capital’s business development representative. In her new role, she will help lead the business development initiatives as well as work to enhance the credit union’s community and school involvement. Kelsey Bistline was promoted to business development representative. In her new role, she will work with our partner companies to promote membership and financial education. Bistline joined the first capital team in 2014 as a member service representative.

The $1.7 billion American Heritage Federal Credit Union in Philadelphia hired Dorian Smith (pictured) as vice president of business development. Smith has more than 18 years of executive leadership experience contributing to strong and sustainable financial growth and performance.

SOUTH

The $2 billion Atlanta Postal Credit Union in Atlanta hired Gregory Graham as assistant vice president of collections. He comes to APCU with more than 20 years of executive management and collection experience. He most recently served as executive director of operations for First Financial Asset Management, Inc.

The $534 million USF Federal Credit Union in Tampa, Fla., hired Christopher Dvorack (pictured) as senior loan officer. He will be responsible for underwriting, processing and closing consumer loans, cross selling additional credit union services and training junior loan officers.

The $163 million Michigan Community Credit Union in Jackson, Miss., selected Cherie Good (pictured below) as mortgage loan originator. She has five years of experience working in the credit union industry and more than 12 years working in business. Good is a graduate of Baker College, earning her degree in business and marketing.

The $184 million Hope Credit Union Jackson, Miss., appointed longtime board member James Brooks (pictured below, holding award) as its first director emeritus. Brooks joined HOPE as one of the first member-owners in 1995, the year the credit union was chartered in Jackson.

VENDORS

PWCampbell in Pittsburgh hired five employees to join the PWCampbell/Studio 109 designs team. Zach Boyers and Maggie Guntli were hired as project managers. They will be responsible for providing oversight of daily activities for retail branding clients that range from pilot programs for singular branches to rollout programs that encompass entire branch networks. They will coordinate plans and specifications, schedules and budgets to ensure complete client satisfaction. Nate Green will add to the architectural staff of Studio 109 Designs. Green will assist in the production of preliminary designs for Studio 109 Designs’ expanding client base, ensuring internal specifications, compliance, applicable codes and regulations are adhered to.

Adam Merante joined the sales department. Merante’s primary responsibilities include sales, marketing PWCampbell to the financial services industry and educating clients about the array of quality facility products and legendary service PWCampbell has to offer. Matt Vranjes was hired as land development/permit coordinator. He will assist the company in preparing site investigation and feasibility reports, coordinating land development approvals, reviewing surveys, civil plans and geo-tech reports, coordinating utilities and filing, tracking and expediting building and other related permits.

After 11 years as a CUNA mutual executive benefits specialist, Michael E. Downey started his own firm, Clarion Capital Management. The firm is a collaboration of boutique firms that specialize in the areas of institutional investments and insurance, and web-based instant insurance products for credit union members.
