This past week, six credit unions made hires and promotions. Plus, League Infosight appointed a new executive and Space Coast Credit Union mourned the passing of a long-time board member.
WEST
The $1.4 billion Advantis Credit Union based in Clackamas, Ore., hired Christopher Groshko as SVP/chief retail officer. With more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Groshko provides leadership in retail operations, including the Advantis branch network, member solutions center, operations support and all electronic channels. Groshko joins Advantis from the $3.4 billion SECU Credit Union in Baltimore, where he spent the last six years managing retail banking and consumer lending sales and service.
The $1.2 billion Columbia Credit Union in Vancouver, Wash., hired two employees.
Marc Timm was hired as SVP and chief lending officer. In this position, Timm administers and oversees the credit union’s entire loan portfolio, including consumer, business and mortgage loans. Timm has more than 25 years of banking experience and most recently served as an executive for Umpqua Private Bank. Prior to that, he was SVP and commercial bank regional director for Umpqua Bank.
Dan Kreamier was hired as vice president and branch manager of the first Oregon branch location, which is located in a new Southeast Portland development on Belmont Street between SE 10th and 11th Avenues. The branch is under construction and expected to open later this year. Kreamier has more than 20 years of experience in financial services.

The Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology named Pete Reicks, SVP of enterprise performance excellence at the $1.8 billion Elevations Credit Union in Boulder, Colo., to the board of examiners for the 2017 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The Baldrige Award is the nation’s highest honor for organizational innovation and performance excellence.
EAST
The $150 million Taunton Federal Credit Union in Taunton, Mass., promoted Peter Ambrose to vice president. In his new role, Ambrose will be responsible for the oversight of technology, facilities and security. Ambrose joined the credit union in 2001 and is a graduate of Kinyon Cambell Business School. He holds several certifications in computer technology.
MIDWEST
The $129 million Frontier Community Credit Union in Leavenworth, Kan., named Darrin DePriest EVP/chief lending officer. In his new position, DePriest is responsible for the overall leadership of the lending department, as well as the operations side of the credit union. He most recently served as the EVP/chief lending officer for the $21 million Wheat State Credit Union in Wichita, Kan. He has more than 20 years of financial services experience, much of it in the lending area.
SOUTH
The $2.2 billion Chartway Federal Credit Union in Virginia Beach, Va., announced two new board appointees.
Nancy McMahon was appointed to the board. She is a long-time credit union volunteer who has served on Chartway’s legislative/regulatory and advocacy committee, volunteer recruitment recognition committee and supervisory committee. Before becoming a credit union volunteer, McMahon worked in human resources for the federal government for 38 years. Currently, she works part-time for the Executive Office of the President of the United States as a human resources advisor.
Jared Perry was appointed to the board. Perry has worked with Chartway for several years, both as partner of Chartway’s charitable arm, the We Promise Foundation, and as a member of the credit union’s legislative/regulatory and advocacy committee. Perry worked in the U.S. Senate as a legislative correspondent for Senator Orrin Hatch and then senior advisor for Senator Bob Bennett. Currently, Perry is president/CEO of Make-A-Wish Utah.
William “Bill” Thoms, a longtime credit union volunteer and former chairman of the board of directors at the $4 billion Space Coast Credit Union in Melbourne, Fla., recently passed away at the age of 90.Thoms served as a volunteer with SCCU for 44 years, beginning in 1966 on SCCU’s Supervisory Committee. Thoms held numerous committee and elected positions. He is survived by his wife Virginia, two daughters and three grandchildren.
CUSOs
League InfoSight, a collaborative effort of 15 credit union leagues/associations and CUNA, appointed Glory LeDu as CEO.
LeDu is now responsible for continuing to deliver collaborative and effective regulatory compliance solutions to credit unions directly through league/association partners. Glory brings a tremendous background and skill set to her new role as CEO.
